What You Should Never Do In Your Period

The last thing you want to do on your period is to work out. Actually, when girls are on their period they are allowed to miss gym class. It’s pretty obvious that sudden movements should be avoided during this period.

Hormonal change throughout the menstrual cycle is responsible for numerous functions. Every woman’s body is different but still, it affects their mood, appetite, libido, stress, emotion, pain, and pleasure.

Here’s what you should never do in your period:

  • Getting a wax depilation

The skin is particularly sensitive during your menstrual cycle, and the pain receptors are extra raised. Therefore, you should never consider getting wax-ed during your period.

  • Unprotected intercourse

Most of the women consider that they’re safe from unsafe coitus in their period however, this is a really bad idea. Moreover, bleeding and ovulating at the same time are not excluded, meaning you can get pregnant. Plus, the transmission of things like HIV and other diseases are higher during this time period.

  • Getting a breast exam

The breasts are incredibly sensitive during this period. Plus, the results are more likely to be mistaken on the test and raise a red flag for no reason. While monthly breast exams are a very good idea, make sure to skip your alarm for the first few days of heavy flow.

  • Eat a lot of dairy products

During your menstrual cycle, opt for fruit smoothies and non-dairy products such as coconut and almond milk as they are packed with healthy nutrients your body wants. Reduce the intake of dairy proteins to a minimum, because the body is much more gassier.

  • Never wear a pad or a tampon for more than 4 hours

You should change your tampon or pad every 3 to 4 hours to avoid an unpleasant odor and bacteria buildup. Also, keep it clean even if you’re in the last days of your period. Not only will it keep you clean but it will reduce the chances to get an infection.

  • Drink a lot of coffee

Make sure to temporarily skip your coffee. Since, caffeine is shown to raise discomfort from cramps and bloating, as it constricts the blood vessels.

  • Smoke a lot of cigarettes

We all know by now that smoking is a bad habit but, in addition to its health risks, it can also worsen the menstrual cramps.

  • Douche

Douching is never necessary, you shouldn’t use douche gels and soaps during periods. It causes irritation and abnormal discharge. A simple water douche is suitable for this period.

  • Eat salty foods

Salty foods make a similar result, as consuming dairy products. The high salt content can actually make your cramps worse and even make you feel bloated.
