Salt would increase blood pressure, and glucose from honey will give you a spike in blood glucose conveniently keep you alert. I don’t know any relationship between honey intake and melatonin production, but there are number of factors that either promote or suppress melatonin production. Staying away from blue light, avoiding food and physical activity 1-2 hrs before going to bed, keep your bedroom dark, and of course, take 3-5 mg melatonin, but make sure it is extended release, NOT the regular one.
