5 Things You Should Never Do After Eating!

After having a delicious meal, many of us would like to have a short nap, or lay down and watch some movies on Netflix. However, most of us are not aware of how worse is this to our body. It’s awful how easily we can harm our health, with small habits like this, without being aware of it.

1. Sleeping

The bottom line is that sleeping after eating is one of the worst things you can do. This can lead to bloating, discomfort, and heartburn. According to the researches at the University of Ioannina Medical School, people who waited 2-3 hours after eating, were less likely to have a stroke.

2. Shower

After eating to properly digest the food, your stomach needs more blood flow. But when you shower the blood is redirected to arms, legs, and body. This decreases the amount of blood in your stomach, which can cause stomach pains.

3. Drink Tea

Drinking tea after eating, can disrupt the iron absorption in the body because tea is high in tannic, that binds with iron from the consumed food. Causing to lower iron absorption up to 87% and lead to poor appetite, chest pain, dizziness, cold hands, and weakness.

4. Smoke

Smoking is an extremely harmful habit and is one of the most dangerous ways to damage your lungs, if you can’t quit, wait at least 1 hour after eating. Studies have shown that if you smoke immediately after eating, it is the same as smoking ten cigarettes at once. Cigarettes contain nicotine, that binds to the excess oxygen that is necessary indigestion and makes the food processing a lot slower.

5. Eat Fruit

We assume you probably thought, that you can eat fruit at any time. But that is not correct, it is best to eat fruits on an empty stomach, as they need different enzymes to be properly digested. When your stomach is empty you benefit from all the nutrients, fiber, and sugars. Eating fruits after meals can cause heartburn, burping, and indigestion.
